Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters, on this website and in therapy. Here’s what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: October 2026

About this policy

This policy explains how Nurtured Family Counselling collects, uses and protects personal information through this website. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for personal health information, Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

Information we collect

How we use it

We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we don’t share it for marketing.

The contact form

Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to our practice email. We keep them only as long as we need to respond and follow up. Email isn’t a fully secure way to share sensitive information, so please leave personal health details out of your message. We can talk about the specifics in a secure setting.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files your browser saves when you visit a website. This site uses cookies from Google Analytics to count visits and see how people move through the site. The reports we see are summaries and don’t identify you by name.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Booking appointments

Booking buttons take you to Jane, the secure practice management platform we use for booking, intake forms and billing. Information you enter there is stored in Jane, which has its own privacy policy.

If you become a client

What you share in therapy is personal health information. We collect, use and protect it as required by PHIPA and the standards of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. You’ll receive more detail about how your records are handled, including the limits of confidentiality, as part of intake and consent. Records are kept for as long as professional and legal rules require, then securely destroyed.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted service providers to host this website, deliver contact form messages, protect the form from spam, measure site visits and manage bookings. We share only what each one needs to do its job. Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

This site links to other websites, such as Jane and our social media pages. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to how we use it, subject to legal and professional requirements. To make a request, contact us.

If you have concerns about how your information has been handled, you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for personal health information, the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
